Springform pan with ring insert

Been married 25 years and some of my kitchen standards are beginning to show wear. I have a 12" springform pan with a ring insert that is my "go to" pan for some of our family's favorite recipes. Recently, one of the kids put it in the dishwasher and it got mangled and the spring doesn't hold the pan tight any longer. It needs to be replaced and I am having a heck of a time finding a replacement. We have access to Bed, Bath, & Beyond, Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Target, Wal Mart, Tuesday Morning, all the usual suspects and no one carries this pan. The 12" size is not the issue, I would be happy with a smaller pan, but even that is proving difficult. I have found pans with inserts that look like bundt pans, but that won't work for my favorite coffee cake recipe. The angel food cake pan won't work for that either. Any suggestions on where I can find a springform with plain ring insert? Thanks!

I think I may have found what you are looking for. http://www.cooking.com/products/shpro...

You could possibly use a new ring for a standard 12" pan if it is only the outer spring catch that is damaged.

Kelli, thanks for the link but the pan you are suggesting has a bundt pan like ring insert. HOWEVER, I think I figured out what I can do. I need a new 12" pan because the spring catch doesn't work well on the existing one. BUT...the ring insert I have now works perfectly fine. I am going to buy a plain old 12" pan and see if I can get the current ring insert to fit inside it and VOILA I will have solved the problem. Thanks again!

Have you tried doing a web search to see if there's a particular brand that has what you're looking for, as well as a seller?

In the interim, depending how badly it's mangled, wrapping it in foil might give you a bit more time?

When you say "ring insert" do you just mean a flat bottom? So it looks like a regular cake pan except you remove the sides? If so, there are a zillion of them on Amazon.com.

I have looked on the internet. By ring insert I mean a piece that has a flat bottom and a ring in the center. I can find many ring inserts, but all of them have fluted, Bundt pan like bottom which is not what I need. I make a coffee cake that has coconut/brown sugar/melted butter topping and I don't believe the topping will come out neatly out of a fluted mold. If I can't find a springform with a flat bottom ring insert, I may try making the cake in an angel food cake pan, although I fear it won't come neatly out of that either. Thanks for everyone's help!

I wonder if you could improvise your own? Maybe take your regular springform pan and put an empty can in the middle - maybe an old tomato paste can would be the right diameter? Or do you think the batter would ooze underneath?

This is probably why I don't bake much :)

I saw one like I think you are talking about at Tuesday Mornings a while back. It actually had a lot of different variation for making mix-matched cakes and was a springform pan. I think one option was a heart in the center, which you could fill with a different color batter, but it also had the simple, small circle. It spent some time in my cart before I talked myself out of it-lol.

Thanks Anniemax! Will keep looking. Was at Tuesday Morning the other day and after sifting through all the springform pans didn't see what I was looking for. But I realize their stock constantly changes, so will keep looking.

Yes, went to the Williams-Sonoma/Pottery Barn store at the Jeffersonville OH outlet mall last weekend. All I have been able to find are springforms with ring inserts that are fluted, resemble bundt pans. I want one that is flat. The topping for the coffee cake I make isn't going to settle correctly in a fluted ring insert. Thanks for your reply!
