End-of-year party - Dearborn, MI
My group is planning an end-of-year party for 35-40 people in Dearborn. Went to Ciao last year and it was disappointing. Cuisine probably does not matter as much as the ability to feed a crowd with good, well-prepared food. I'm wondering specifically about Kiernan's and the Dearborn Inn, but all suggestions will be appreciated.
Head west on Ford Rd till you get to New Peking in Garden City. Although the decor is what you would expect in a Chinese restaurant, the food is great. And they have a large room for parties. What says "Christmas" more than duck, abalone, and bean curd?
I've heard good things about Andiamo's, on Michigan Avenue. They do a lot of banquets and have an excellent reputation for quality.
Ciao has really good food, but it's expensive and, agreed, it's more "intimate." I probably wouldn't go with a group that large!
I've been to Kiernan's for a wedding rehearsal dinner (thus, they do large groups), Deaborn Inn for weddings, Easter, Mother's Day. Good food at both places, and both will accommodate a group that size.
Another suggestion is Dearborn Hills (golf club). We looked into it for our reception, but it was too small; their menus look appetizing and, if you've never been there, it's a fairly casual place, not a fancy, country-club type place. I know people who have had showers and golf-outing dinners and recommended it.
Also, whatever City Tavern is now called (it's on Michigan in east Dearborn) has plenty of room and reasonably good food; was there for a funeral luncheon recently and the service was excellent.
Thanks for the ideas. We'll check them out. Any more ideas out there? Come on, I'm gettin' hungry.
Get the private space at Al-Berdouni on Chase. I think it's got the best Mideast food in Dearborn. But, don't know about the alcohol.
We've had some wonderful meals at Dearborn Inn main restaurant. It will be beautifully decorated and the service will be good...I think that's a great venue for an upscale office event. Very gracious and food that will please probably everybody.
