Vizzard's on the Avenue-Opinions?

I'd appreciate everyone's opinions on this restaurant. I'm coming to New Orleans for a visit and considering all my options.

Thanks!

  1. i've been 3x and have had great food every time. In particular, some outrageously good scallops. I like the space, too.

I've been once. The food was unimpressive, and not particularly unique, and the hotel-restaurant atmosphere permeated the meal.

"The food was ... not particularly unique"

Are you sure you're talking about the right place? If you weren't impressed by the silky-smooth scallop flan and blue-cheese chocolate cake, you need to go back and try them. That you mention a hotel atmosphere also makes me think you're thinking of a different place. Vizard's has about as much hotel atmosphere as Matt and Naddie's.

OP - When I went, Vizard's was unusual, unique, and interesting, but like Mike, I've only been once. However, I was just talking about it with some friends this weekend and they shared my opinion, so I would definitely put Vizard's on your short-list.

    2. Go.

Agreed. That scallop flan was amazing.

      2. We were there in September and our dinner was excellent.

Are they moving to a new location?

Yes. Moving to the former Alberta location on Magazine St. Should be open by New Year's Eve.

why are they moving, he has changed locations a lot, who is going to his avenue location?

I've recommended this place before on the boards i believe. My old roomie Meatball is one of the guys on the line. Kevin, is a genuinely nice guy to boot. The food is very good and not too pricey for the quality. I think there has been a bit of a hang up on the move but it is happening by February according to insiders.

I remember last Gras. Walking into the kitchen with Meatball to use the bathroom and having the Soux take my lady and I into the freezer to eat local caviar off a spoon...

                  I love this place sometimes.
