Pasta Dinner in Long Beach

My boyfriend is running the Long Beach marathon this Sunday, and he needs a place to "Carbo-Load" (i.e. eat tons of Pasta) on Saturday night. Since I have to go with him, I would love it if we could actually eat at a good restaurant, instead of Olive Garden or other chain food. I live in LA (Beverly Hill-ish) and generally never go south of Manhattan Beach. Help! If it matters, we are staying at the Westin on E. Ocean & Long Beach Blvd. Thanks for any suggestions you have.

Finbars in Seal Beach is an East Coast style Italian restaurant in Seal Beach. I love their lasagne, and the spaghetti is very good as well. Maybe a little far from downtown Long Beach, but worth it IMHO.

The "Link to a place beta" did not work.

Closer to downtown LB is La Parolaccia on E. Broadway. Owners are from the old country. Very casual, and very good.

Not quite Long Beach, but a very short drive into Sunset Beach will bring you to Roman Cucina, one of my favorite places for romantic atmosphere and simple but tasty Italian food. They have huge portions and great martinis for the non-runner :-) My favorite is the sausage mozzarella with penne pasta. It's just a quick jaunt down PCH on the beach side of the street.
