Sketch - what is up?

I went over for an occasional indulgence today (fortunately, found easy parking) only to find Sketch closed for some sort of improvement/change until October 20somethingth. I don't make it there that often, but was disappointed to see that the calorie gods were looking out for me today. What is the "scoop" so to speak?

  1. I was there on Thursday too, and ended leaving disappointed like you :(. From what I remember, the sign says that they're having some kind of renovation. Hopefully that won't affect the quality of their products ... I'm waiting for the kabocha pumpkin flavor that many Chowhounders have raved about.

    1. Just some basic maintenance and upkeep - redoing the floor and some of the plumbing, etc. Shouldn't have any impact on their products. I believe they reopen on the 21st or 22nd.

        I take it back. The sign says "stay tuned for something new and exciting." New floors doesn't sound particularly exciting to me. They are set yo reopen on the 22nd.

          They told me the same: floors, plumbing. Denied any expansion. They said they are stating 3 weeks, but hope everything is done sooner.

      2. They have closed for long stretches before.

        1. Has anyone been in today? What's new and exciting? If nobody reports, I may have to go by on my way home. Its been torture the past few weeks without them!

            Don''t hold your breath - the opening has been delayed until October 29th. I think I'm going to go home and cry.

                Before I even saw MtheM's post, I thought that if chemchef thought they would reopen when they said he was dreaming. Did anyone think they would reopen on time? When was a last time a restaurant remodel was finished when it was supposed to be?

                  Hmm ... I was going to look into getting an ice cream cake for a housewarming I'm going to on 11/3. Guess I better think of something else.

                    How about Ici...I was there today and they had Pumpkin ice cream sandwiches with gingersnap cookies!

                    Well, since they didn't specify a remodel, just to "stay tuned for something new and exciting." That could mean anything, really. One can only hope....

                    Yeah??? Ok, then I'm "for sure" planning on being there. Can't wait to see what the big to do is all about. I certainly hope it was worth the wait!

                        Of course, but luckily its on my way home (sort of), so it won't be too much trouble just to go by. Just disappointing if they're not open.
