I have been a huge fan of lotus pond veg. chinese restaurant on midland for YEARS.
However I read a review of cafe 668 in NOW magazine and they raved about it.
So off we went ...2 mothers and 4 children on a sunday nite at 6 p.m.
The decor is gorgeous...the lighting, the tables, the fixtures, ..everything is truly "hip".
As we started to order, we noticed about 6 people lining up by the door.
Next thing we know it, the place is PACKED.
The owner and a waitress, were scrambling. Needless to say, the service was horrific.
However Im sure they will work that out..(I hope..LOL).
The food was fantastic. However I wasnt a big fan of the wonton soup (not enough flavor, not enough wonton).
We will definetely be going back...(without the kids..LOL).
I learned the hard way that you never go to a restaurant the same week it's reviewed. NOW reviewed our quiet neighbourhood restaurant. Normally you can walk right in and be seated immediately. The week it was reviewed it was packed out the street and the one waiter was overwhelmed to the point of exhuastion. The kitchen staff of one was overwheled and ran out of food the first night. Better to wait a few weeks til the hype dies down.
We took a vegan friend there for her b-day dinner in Sept. It was the first time for all of us...we were really impressed with the decor and generous portions. The service was so-so...we ate on the patio and I think at times, they forgot we were out there. But overall, we were still happy with our meals and would go back.
