a new kosher take out place opened in toronto a few weeks ago.
Its located on bathurst just south of lawrence...on the east side.
I went to check it out....
Firstly..the place is spotless and well-appointed.
I grabbed a container of thai noodles, spicy eggplant and shmaltz herring.
Not terribly expensive and when I served it to my family....it got rave reviews.
There is a ton of meat...kugels....and a sushi station....but my family
is vegetarian so Im limited to checking out the "pareve section".
Has anyone else tried their food?
We tried the chicken fingers and spicy beef before Rosh Hashana as a taste test. The beef was good; chicken fingers are much better at Ely's. We also had the beef kreplach and chicken soup before fasting on Yom Kippur. The kreplach (which look like potstickers) were great; soup tasted powdered. I normally don't buy chicken soup, but we were a small group and I didn't have time to make my own.
The proprietors and the staff are very nice in the store and indeed it is spotless. The pricing seems fair.
