Restaurant featuring home made pastas

Does anyone have any recommendations on a restaurant that features home made pastas? Missing those delicate tastes that go so nicely with hearty ragus from our favorite spots in nyc.

Gnocchi with mushromms or the garganelli with lamb ragu both at Sassi are my 2 favs in town.

Ziggylu - I think when Maria Ranieri (Maria's When in Naples) retired, her kids opened the Salute at 7th & Thunderbird and now have a few locations. Wonder if Mamma taught them how to make her celebrated butternut squash ravioli? Maria's WIN was a 'must go' for our Las Vegas friends who love 'old school Italian' -- their new favorite is La Fontanella.

Tutti Santi on 60th St and Greenway is my personal favorite. Whenever they have the veal canneloni special you must order it - the homemade pasta literally melts in your mouth. My husband also had a duck ravioli special a few week ago that was wonderful. Homemade gnocchi are also especially good. Not to mention the warm, friendly service you get from the entire staff.

I cannot say enough about Marcellino's. Pricey, but the papparadelle in lamb ragout was INSANELY good!!!! Perfect al dente texture, perfect sauce. I can't wait to get back there for valentine's day and try one of the many pasta specials they bring out on a platter before you order.

IMO Marcellino's has the best selection of home made pasta. Tutti Santi is my second favorite Italian place in Phoenix, although I've never had home made pasta there. I've heard that the ravioli are home made and delicious.

From the comments on Tutti Santi, I see that I need to give it another try. We were pumped (by great recs.) to try it some years back, but were underwhelmed. I do not recall the meal in detail, but maybe that's because nothing really rose above normal. Our meal was at the 16th St and Morten location, and was about 5 years ago, so much may have changed, plus there is another location, right?

We go to teh one in Mesa frequently. I love it...because I love the Vongole. It's the only thing I get there. My husband always tries different things but I haven't found anythign I like as well as the Vongole and I havne't found a version in Phoenix I prefer so I stick with and it's why we go.

I also like that it feels very welcoming and the service is relaxed without being overly casual. We're never rushed through our meal. It's always quiet and never loud.

Haven't been to other location so can't compare

There's on on 56th st. and Greenway too. They are getting ready to open another location at 59th and Union Hills. It should be opened early November.

I personally like Tutti Santi, and I do know that some (I'm not sure all) their pasta's are made in house. This is a good sit-down restaurant, and reasonably priced.

My latest love affair is with Andreoli - Italian Grocer. Everything is home made here, and everything I have had there is wonderful. More of a quick meal atmosphere (counter service, with tables to take your food to).

After sifting through the numerous, appetite-whetting posts about Andreoli, I still can't tell if they sell their housemade pasta on the "grocery side." Does anyone know?

I don't think they do, though I didn't ask specifically. When I was there there wasn't any for sale. They only seem to sell the DeCecco brand of dried pastas.

I like Tutti Santi a lot. I know we've had the housemade ravioli once but I don't remember much about them other than they were pretty good. I always get the same thing - Linguine Vongole. They make a fantastic version.

Anyone remember Maria When in Naples? When we first moved here 7 years ago we found this place(70th and Shea i think) and loved their homemade pasta. We were very sad when they closed and haven't found anywhere since that has homemade pasta as good....will have to try Marcellino's after reading this thread!

I loved Maria's When in Naples. In fact, it was one of the first places that I ever had fresh pasta (at the time, pasta was born in green boxes and topped with cheese from a can), and it changed my whole outlook on Italian food.

Best I've had is Marcellino Ristorante. They actually bring out a selection of pre-cooked pastas from which to choose. It's higher end and higher priced, so for people like me, it's more of a special treat than a corner eatery where you'd grab a quick meal when not in the mood to cook.

How does Marcellino Ristorante compare with La Locanda and Tutti Santi? I haven't been to any of them, but have heard the latter two mentioned.

Daniel's is Great I haven't been in a few years but my Hubby loves it. Marcellino's is one of our top 3 faves in the valley.

Tutti Santi is good, not the best and La Locanda haven't been in 4-5 years.

Have not dined at La Locanda, but Marcellino's blows the doors off of the near-by Tutti Santi (16h @ Morten?). Do not know about their other locations. For my $, they are not in the same league. Marcellino's wins, hands down. Same for Christo's on 7th St., also near-by.

Personally, I think that it does, and in all aspects from service, ambiance/noise-level and food, including ingredients, execution, menu options and presentation. We've never had a bad meal at Christo's, it's just that we've always had excellent ones at Marcellino's. Same for Avanti - good, but always short of great. Have not yet done Seth Chadwick's rec. of Voltaire, but must get down that way to try it.

Strongly second Marcellino's for "homemade pastas." They usually have 4-5 on the menu every night and my IT friends rave about them. I usually go with their veal picatta (not usually on the menu, but avaiable if you sweet-talk Sima). They look wonderful, and the few tastes that I get are excellent. Have to order one, just for myself!
