Dinner tonight around 21st and 5th?

sara123 Oct 6, 2007 10:08 AM

Any suggestions for dinner in the general vicinity of 21st and 5th? I'm not too familiar with the area. Looking for about $25-35 pp with a drink or two... more fun than serious atmosphere and any type of food. We have a group of between 4 and 7.

Thanks so much!

Literally TONS of places. I would suggest MetroCafe & Wine bar or Borough Food and Drink for a fun upbeat vibe, the Tavern room at Gramercy tavern for a little more subdued but excellent food and service.

Via Emilia, on 21st, just west of Park Av. S. Excellent homemade pastas. They don't take reservations, and it's cash only.

Note: The Tavern at Gramercy does not take reservations either.

What about Markt on 6th Ave and 21st St.? Good food, great beers.

Markt moved up to 21st and 6th from the meat packing district. Fun place with good food.

Via Emilia is an excellent recommendation (Modenese Italian). I'll add Le Zie (Venetian), on 7th Ave, in a similar price range.

Here's my report on Via Emilia:

My Le Zie report is near the beginning of this:

As far as atmosphere, the decor of Via Emilia may give it the "fun" edge.
