Middle Eastern in Hollywood - Carousel vs. Marouch?

I've been meaning to get to these two for a while and tonight's the night - but which one?

Marouch Restaurant
4905 Santa Monica Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90029, USA

Caroussel Restaurant
5112 Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90027

  1. They're both good -- I used to be faithful to Marouch, because I liked the roast chicken and the room better.
But now that I've tried Caroussel's fattouch salad and muhammara, I'd have to give it the edge. I think Caroussel is better on the veggies and Marouch on the meat, but it's a pretty tight race. Marouch has beer, Caroussel does not. Marouch sometimes has belly dancers on the weekend, which can make conversation difficult.

I've had beer at Caroussel. It wasn't on the menu, but I asked and they had it. Maybe this has changed, though.

    2. Marouch has a better atmosphere, and might be a bit more expensive to go along with that, but both are equally tasty when it comes to the food.

      1. I agree with DanaB's is equally tasty, but Marouch actually has an atmosphere. Caroussel has no corkage fee, which is a nice plus.

        1. Marouch.

Excellent Mezze, much more relaxed.. no noisy dance hall.

Are you thinking of the Glendale Caroussel? There's nothing noisy at the Hollywood one.

Oh, I think I am. Thanks for the correction.

marouch is good, but rather over-priced IMO....Glendale Caroussel is best (esp lentil soup)..but one on Hollywood has great cabbage salads, feta and grilled kabobs...

          2. I live for the mezze feast at Marouch - yum!
