I think the food compares to the French Laundry only not as fussy. We've had several outstanding meals there and would go back again. However, as Ruth pointed out, if you have to drive all the way to Rutherford from SF to have dinner there, it might not be worth it as there are plenty of places in SF that could provide you with a meal of equal quality. The price of the food is not bad at all with all that you get. The wine was the expensive part of the meal, $90 for 2 glasses, and they were nowhere near being the expensive items on the wine list. I'm not sure I'll make a special trip to the area just for a meal there. But if I'm staying in the area, I would definitely make reservations in advance.
