Worth is relative. Worth a drive vs. worth it in the area. Worth eating there vs. eating somewhere else, when number of meal opportunities is limited. Worth saving up for, if you can only have one expensive meal. Etc.

In other words, to be able to judge whether it would be worth it *to you* you should give us some more info.

If you're staying in Napa Valley and want an exceptional meal that is not inexpensive, it's more than worth it. I think the food compares to the French Laundry only not as fussy.

We've had several outstanding meals there and would go back again.

However, as Ruth pointed out, if you have to drive all the way to Rutherford from SF to have dinner there, it might not be worth it as there are plenty of places in SF that could provide you with a meal of equal quality.

Money wise, our meal was worth every penny. The food we had was some of the best stuff we've had. The service was also excellent. The price of the food is not bad at all with all that you get. The wine was the expensive part of the meal, $90 for 2 glasses, and they were nowhere near being the expensive items on the wine list.
I'm not sure I'll make a special trip to the area just for a meal there. But if I'm staying in the area, I would definitely make reservations in advance.
