Boys night out... where to go in T.O?

A couple of the boys and I are going out next week for dinner/drinks and I get to choose the spot. Thinking of trying Bier Markt since I love imported beer (esp. Belgium beer).. but not sure about their food though. Already tried JKWB and enjoyed it, but want to try somewhere new. One friend is coming from Singapore, so he probably doesn't want to do Asian... any other suggestions?

  1. I might be a chick, but I do love beer. Try Beer Bistro instead of Bier Markt--the food is WAY better, and their draught offerings are much more interesting.

Hey 'beer lovin chick' :) , any particular brews you fancy @ Beer Bistro?

Mill St. Tankhouse Ale and Durham County Hop Addict are both great. Not sure if they're on tap at present (I haven't been in a while b/c I'm knocked up) but they're both usually there.

    2. Though lacking imported beer, the Mill St. Brewpub might be a good choice. Caffé Volo has great beer selection, but their food can be hit or miss.

Also, an oft-overlooked place is the Victory Café (Markham St.), which has become a recent favourite of mine. Amazing selection of Ontario microbrews, and knowledgeable staff (well, some of them).

      1. If quality of food is important, you might consider The Rebel House, upscale pub menu billed as Canadian (so might be of interest to your out-of-country friend). If you do a search, you'll find lots of positive reviews and comments. They have a good selection of Ontario micro-brews but I'm not sure about imported beer and I can't get their bar menu to download.

I have always had a good time at Betty's which is on King, the north side, east of Sherbourne. Also their food is filling and tasty. I've had some nice gumbo there, always love the salmon burger, and the tuna fish sandwich. They have great regulars, very friendly atmosphere, and have 2 pool tables in the second floor, usually that whole area is uninhabited so it's great for being able to hear everyone, plus there's a jukebox. There's tons of beer on tap, a great selection by bottle and the best back patio in the city.

            The Rebel House is great.
            Excellent food and beer selection.

Possibly a bit small if your group is a bit on the large side.
