Help me pick a restaurant
Fiance's parents are coming in from Philly and want to go to dinner at one of the following:
L'Impero (my suggestion, I think it's amazing)
Or (from what they're read in NY Mag or other places):
Bobo
Cafe Boloud
Aurora Soho
Suggestions? Anyone have a report on the other 3 places?

L'Impero *is* amazing, as is Cafe Boulud, which still sticks out as one of the best lunches of my life, four years ago (the first time I went). I have never been disappointed there. You may like to look into Eleven Madison Park- I haven't made it there yet, but it gets raves here for the food, and definitely has great "NY wow" factor. The same price range as Boulud and L'Impero, I don't know Aurora.

You are not correct when you say L'Impero is in the same price range as EMP and Cafe Boulud; it's decidedly less expensive. For example, L'Impero's 4-course dinner prix-fixe is $65, while EMP's is $96. A substantial difference!!
I agree that all have superb cuisine, stellar service, and wonderful ambiance.

Whatever you do, don't go to Bobo--poor service and mediocre food. It's much more about the scene than the food.
Aurora Soho is good but uneven. May be a little loud for your fiance's parents.›3 Replies-

Yes, Bobo is a new "Bourgeois Bohemian" restaurant in the West Village. I have never eaten there, but here's a link to the NY Mag write-up:
