Holidays in Santa Fe

I know it's early, but I'm a planner. We're going to be spending 2 weeks during Christmas time in Santa Fe. We've been before at this time and have gone to Geronimo's for Xmas Eve dinner. This time, we'd like to go more casual. My thinking is, we'll do the more upscale places (like Compound) on other nights when we can most likely get better service. Btw, my definition of "casual" (that is SF casual) is approx $100 -$150 (or less) for 2 people (btw2, we're not big drinkers -- my husband and I are known to split a glass of wine at dinner... party on!).

The days we're needing guidance are Xmas Eve, Xmas (brunch and/or dinner) and, if possible, New Years Eve. Open to hotel dining if it's good. We're into fun, authentic food. We're in our 30's (if that matters). Thanks y'all!

I had written an extensive reply that was eaten by the Chowhound board monster. I'll recap it more briefly here.

You may have better luck finding dining suggestions for holidays from local hotel concierge desks. The posters here tend to be locals (or residents), and not people traveling to Santa Fe. I do the Xmas Eve farolito walk on Canyon Rd, like many of my friends and family, but we eat family meals on those occasions. Take note that SF will be largely closed down for the holidays (especially Xmas and Xmas Eve) so your only luck may be at hotels. Even grocery stores and fast food chains will close early.

The better hotels (La Posada, Inn of the Anasazi, Bishops Lodge, Eldorado, Hotel Santa Fe) will have the best advice, of course.

    Good luck.
