Iridescence at the Motor City Casino has a great view, amazing food, and a big wine list. Michael Mina never fails, either.

Agree with first poster , location is important , metro Detroit is a big place , you will need a car to travel very far ( or a friendly taxi driver and a fat wallet , good luck with both ) . The good news is that Detroit gets a bad national rep when it comes to food , there is an amazing abundance of good places to eat , give us a little more input and I'm sure we can come up with some great suggestions . First off , is the great wine list a must ? If so that's fine , it would actually rule out a bunch of good places that don't serve . Second , while I don't always agree with their reviews , metrotimes.com has an extensive list of local places that might be a good starting off point for someone unfamiliar with the area .

If you are really into the wine, this woman has been picking good wine lists around here for a long time. The restaurants mentioned on this page are all well established:

Coach Insignia is a fancy place on the top of one of the Renaissance Center skyscraper towers downtown, but the others wouldn't be at such a high price point.

"This woman" is Madelaine Triffon, the first female Master Sommelier in the world. Any and all of the Matt Prentice restaurants have fine wine lists. The food is pretty darn good also.

Try Zinc Brasserie and Wine Bar in West Bloomfield. Bastones in Royal Oak is also a fun place with good food and wine (and beer if you are into it - they brew their own Belgian Beer). Also, next door is a wine bar owned by the same person as Bastones.

Are you in the city proper? Do you have access to a car? How far/long are you willing to drive? Type of cuisine you prefer? Full-time resident or just visiting for a bit?

These are good questions to answer to help out those who want to suggest appropriate ideas for you. Just a suggestion.
