Best Placerville and Jackson-Plymouth area choices?

It's been a while since we've been up to the Gold Country so may not know what the current top picks are, other than Zachary Jacques. Any suggestions for good places for dinner with our British guest? We're heading up this weekend for the Big Crush.

  1. Taste Restaurant in Plymouth has been getting a lot of positive attention and is in the middle of the Amador Wine Country.

9402 Main Street, Plymouth, CA 95669

    1. I've dined at Taste several times and our meals have always been outstanding. However, I've always wanted to try Zachary Jacques just south of Placerville but it has always been mobbed.

It's been a while since we were last there, but it was always good. Dinner requires reservations and is really too much food, but you can get many lighter entrees in the wine bar, which is informal and drop in. Sierra Vista used to often serve their pate at events and it was excellent.

Have you been since Dec. 2005, which I assume is the date it changed hands? That is why I included the link as it explains the change of ownership. There have been earlier posts, but nothing since the new owners have settled-in to my knowledge. Thanks for your reply because I was fishing for a current report.

      2. Call now for a reservation for Wood Fired Pizza Night (Friday only) made outdoors at Fitzpatrick's Winery and Lodge, on the back patio. It is jammed with locals and sells out; I'm not sure they still do it. Great fun. Google them for the number.
