Wedding cake question
I decided to purchase a wedding cake at Sunset Bakery here in SF after Schubert's said they wont' do any more cakes for the rest of the year, they're all booked up.
I went to try their cakes and their were very good for the price. Nothing fancy but taste good, fresh, and like I said, price was right.
You can get a white cake or a chocolate cake, but their are many filling options, coconut, lemon, peach, chocolate moose, mocha, custard, strawberry, and mix fruit.
I want to get an informal poll on which flavors to select....
I say chocolate/custard & white cake/lemon.
I think it depends on what they do best. Are you doing both choc. and lemon cakes or deciding which of the two. I love lemon but the crowd pleaser is usually choclate.
We did a chocolate and lemon layers at our wedding. Lemon is even better if the filling is lemon curd. Yum!
Decorate the cake with lots of flowers. It often looks nicer than regular decoration (if that's not their forte) and is cheaper.
My sister bought her wedding cake from Sunset about 14 years ago. She ordered the whipped cream, white cake/lemon filling. It was excellent. All the guests ate it up.
Thanks all. I'll had them make a four tier cake. 2 chocolate cakes with either coconut or custard, and 2 white cakes with lemon filling. And have a friend decorate it with flowers...
As a traditionalist I vote for the white/lemon. I never do fruit filling in cake since it sogs in, except for lemon
