L'Scorpion for drinks.

For food, Lucky Devil's or 25 Degrees for burgers, or Skooby's for hot dogs (I personally have even walked my way from Kodak Theater to the Hungry Cat too). Stop by Beard Papa for a cream puff ;)

For something more sit-down, Brasserie Vert or Parc Hollywood are comparatively better than Geisha House.

Wow, your friends are insane to want to go there. Go to lucky Devil's down the street for beer, burgers and milkshakes.

Go to the metro station and ride to little tokyo for better sushi.

I second Lucky Devils. I love the laid-back vibe, the friendly servers, the tasty burgers and fries, the great selection of microbrews and Belgian beers, and the great desserts. It's my favorite place on Hollywood Boulevard.

If you want the genuinely hip joint on Hollywood these days, go waste your money at Parc. The food may not be great, but that's where the scenesters and the occasional celebrity go now, not Geisha House.
