boyfriend's birthday

Want to take my boyfriend out for his birthday - he lives in DC but I'm coming in from Chicago, so I need recommendations! He's turning 26, so something young-ish. Price not an issue. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. We're both willing to try new things. Just want to come up with something good!

I'd skip the mains at MeiNYu, but it's one of my favorite funky bars around.

What about Central? It's a little less pricey than some of the places mentioned above, but it's equally wonderful!

Actually, I did mention Central in an above post.

So did I, but I never count on people to read all the above threads, or only skim them.

Sorry to both- I glanced and didn't see it at a glance.

Dining room (as opposed to bar) at Palena.

I have a slight preference for the food at Taberan del Alabardero, but the atmosphere won't be as good for what I bet you want. Obelisk is also a very casual but very good choice.

I did Palena Saturday - it was truly lovely. The front room was a bit crowded and hectic, but when we walked back to the room in the rear, all was peace and serenity and delicious food. Menus change frequently, so what I had may not be available, but the beet and lobster salad was amazing. There were people from all age/generation groups. It is NOT stuffy. What about Rasika? It's very hip, the food is delicious, and lots of young people go there. Have fun!

Well there are lots of threads on this but I will throw some of the normal names up there:
Citronelle, so good it doesn't matter what the crowd is, will be a mix
Komi, also really good, but mixed crowd
            Palena, same as above
Restaurant Eve tasting room, same as above

For younger atmosphere and still really good food perhaps try Central, Brasserie Beck, Hook.

            Ok gotta go good luck!

I took my boyfriend to Palena this year and that was great. I also really like Zengo (which is fun albeit less romantic). Three more of my new favorites you may want to look into- Central, Proof and 2941 (which in in VA but always on my go-to list for a special occasion). Enjoy!!

ktmoomau, have you actually been to Citronelle?

Yes, only once, a while ago, but hoping SO will take me again. Or once I get out of law school and make real money I can take him!

The food is just so good, and breakfast dessert so fun!

A friend was staying at the Latham the other night and I met him for dinner. We thought of just eating room service in his room, so we could get Citronelle prepared food, for a much more reasonable price.

                  And you?
