private party?

Hey all-- I'm wondering if you have recommendations for good places that can rent a private room for kind of a lot of people, maybe 30 or so, and serve munchies and (of course) lots of drinks. I and a friend are planning a joint birthday party for our husbands, but we've never done anything quite on this scale and have no idea where to start. Any help is appreciated!

    Tapeo on Newbury Street has a private room that accomodate 30 people or so or if it grows larger you can rent out one of their dining rooms. I believe they can do a cocktail reception or a sit town tapas tasting menu. Its usually done within a reasonal budget as well (I agree the Mistral room is amazing, but the price is shocking!) And I recently heard from a friend for their event menu they have an all you can drink beer, wine, sangria package for only $20.00 a person!

      At the high end, Mistral has a beautiful private room and would be happy to accommodate you ... for a price. If you're thinking high end, you should give them a call.

        Fen, I think this may be a difficult endeavor for you. You'd probably have to do it on a weeknight. Also, most restaurants in Boston proper probably won't rent out their private rooms to a party not having dinner/entrees.

        Good luck to you, though.

          where do you want to go? There are lots of places that can accomodate something like that. Stella in the South End has a private room, give them a call. Day of the week is also important, as well as time.

            There are quite a few places that fit that description. Please let us know what price range you're thinking of and your geographic preferences/constraints, and we'll be able to help better. The more additional information (atmosphere, age of guests, just snacks or a light meal, etc.) you can add, the better we can help.
