Hayward (and Temescal Farmers Market) - Pot Pie Paradise

There was a recent thread on this but I'm hoping to get some more favorites. So far people like - Classic Chicken, Hungarian Goulash, Chicken Tikka Masala, gumbo pie

The reason I'm just not adding to that post is that it got a little off topic. I'm not interested in who else sells pot pies. I'm just interested in this particualar pot pie vendor because they have over 30 varieties of pot pies - savory, sweet, vegetarian and vegan.

Positive reports on Yelp for Spicy Curry Indo Lamb, Roma Vegetarian, Spicy Balinese Beef, Ricotta Spinach, Aussie Steak

Someone was impressed with the home made soups at the deli in Hayward.

Any pot pies that are not that great?

I guess the deli serves them hot out of the oven and they are frozen at Temescal?

Has anyone tried these that I'm interested in:

- Roasted Winter Squash Vegetarian
Roasted Butternut squash, spices, cream, olive oil, soy bean, roasted leek, smoked gouda, vegetables, parmesan cheese, vegan base.

- Javanese Fruit Pie
Plantain, yam, jack fruit, coconut milk, palm sugar, berries.

- Rhubarb Berries and Raisin Pie
Rhubarb, raisins, sugar, liqueur, orange, eggs, berries.

- Bavarian Apple Pie
Granny Smith, sour cream, almonds/walnuts, brown sugar, raisins, spices.

Do they give samples at Temescal? I was in a hurry and just picked up the menu.

      1. They do give samples at Temescal, although the one time I was there it was on the tail end of market hours and most of their sample pies only had crust left. (Good crust, though).

We got the gumbo pie and the winter squash. It was a while ago so I don't remember details, but they were both good. The gumbo may have been the better of the two because it was a little spicy and more flavorful in general.

          1. They do give samples at the farmer's market. If you get there early-ish, they have samples of everything and are very nice about letting you sample as many as you want. All the pies at the Temescal Farmer's Market are frozen. My favorites are the chicken curry and the thai chicken. Plus, the owners are super nice.

              1. How apropos. I am defrosting a large Traditional Chicken pot pie for dinner tonight. The Javanese fruit pie is meh. It tastes like sweet mushiness. No defined flavor. (Have half a Duartes olalieberry pie left from yesterday for comparison.) We like the Osaka Beef, Chicken Tikka Masala, Hungarian Goulash the best. The Creole Gumbo can be unexpectedly spicy (sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't). We would eat any flavor, just depends on what mood we are in. This is the first large pie we have tried, so I am interested to see the ratio of crust to filling.

                  1. I go to the Arden location everyday for lunch. I have not had 1 bad meal or yet to say " i'm getting sick of it " The girls treat me like a king and I enjoy seeing them.
