I'm looking for some good Ukranian that I can take home to serve at a celebratory dinner for my Ukranian grandmother. East-end or central would be strongly preferred, but if I have to travel, then I have to travel. I'd rather have good than close. Any recommendations? I've heard of Lviv and Wally's out in the west end. If nobody has any other recs, which would you pick amongst those two?
I think that the absolute best Ukrainian food comes from Baby Point Lounge, 343 Jane Street. I'm not sure of the hours, so call before you head out. 416-767-2623. They have a banquet hall, and catering service. They are very accommodating and I'm sure you could get whatever quantity you need. You won't be disappointed!!
I don't think Lviv is there anymore. I like to go to the Ukranian Credit Union out on Bloor West for authentic " pyrohy" or perogies and cabbage rolls. Just like Baba used to make. Call ahead to see if they have any. Often they only make them around holiday time. There are plenty of delis on Bloor West between Jane and Runnymede that sell Ukrainian food. There is also a Ukranian restaurant called Amber, you could call them to see if they do take-out.
