Cameron's in Pasadena has it, I haven't tried it but I enjoy the food at Cameron's in general. I think Fish King in Glendale might have it as well.

Crab Cooker is the best...worth picking up a few quarts for the freezer for times when cravings strike...There was a brief time when they actually canned their soup and sold it at some local grocers but I guess the demand wasn't great...

If you're in WLA I'd call Santa Monica Seafood on Broadway or Colorado in Santa Monica to see if they made it on that day. It's a good one and it's nearby. I also like the one at Daily Grill. I wish more places offered it as a choice. I hate the white one!

Agreed, the red clam chowder is lighter and isn't 60 grams of fat to eat. If it were 30 degrees out I might consider the white chowder an option.

Same here. I think they should come up with a new name for the white, so as not to confuse it with the "real" clam chowder.

Mmm! I haven't been there in years! Although, I am partial to the New England version.

They spend a lot of time claiming that their NE clam chowder is the best in the world. There's even a picture of Chevy Chase proclaiming exactly that. Of course, I love Chevy Chase, but I'm not sure I'd turn to him as the undisputed authority on NE Clam Chowder around the world...

I'm not sure if it's the best in the world but it's damn good.

King's Fish House. I've never had the Manhatten but the New England Clam Chowder was delicious there!

I should add that I live in West LA ... OC is a little far ... but when I'm down there I'll keep this in mind ....

Crab Cooker is pretty good....self-proclaimed "worlds best". I always get a couple frozen quarts to take home for my freezer.

Closer to home you might consider Fisherman's Outlet in downtown LA...not MHC but a tomato based/cioppino like broth seafood chowder that has clams in it. My daughter likes their lobster bisque.

Hours aren't that convenient- they're basically only open for lunch.

I know this will be out of the way for you so again, when you are in the area, http://www.originalfishcompany.com on Los Alamitos/Katella in Los Alamitos. I love both the Manhattan and Boston style. Their Manhattan has a bit of a kick, a full flavored broth and lots clams and vegetables!

Last time I was there they replaced the jaw breakers with salt water taffy. I was bummed. Taffy was fine, but not the same.

Love the Crab Cooker! I went to the Newport Beach one all the time when I went to school down in Irvine.
