The Rittenhouse Hotel does a high tea in the Mary Cassat room in the afternoon. I haven't been myself, but have heard good things about it.

I've had tea at the Ritz and it was lovely. I don't remember the cost, but it was about 6 ladies and we sat in couches in the large lobby. We had the full tea (sweets and sandwiches).

I second the Ritz. I think it was around $30 a person- but i may be wrong and it was delicous sandwiches, teas and pastries- I was stuffed when I left.

I've been to the Cassat Tea Room in the Rittenhouse. It was lovely. The tea selection was great. The tea sandwiches and desserts left nothing to be desired. I recommend it.

Consider the Hotel duPont in Wilmington if you want to drive half hour. Less expensive, beautifully elegant room , traditionally impressive.
