Need rec's for Phoenix/Peoria/Glendale visit

Hi, we will be staying in Glendale on West Arrowhead Town Center Dr. from 10/4 to 10/11. We will have a car, so traveling is no problem. Looking for your favorites in all cuisines, all price ranges. Also need rec's for restaurants that are open a little later for snacks/light meals, preferably near our temporary address. Thanks for your help!

  1. I also wanted to add to the "open later" part of my request that it can be a bar or club, not strictly a restaurant. Last time I was there all I could find was fast food for a snack after 9:00pm or so - not exactly my favorite. Thanks again!

And I was going to suggest In N Out Burger :^)

      2. That is right by the Peoria sports Complex and the movie theaters, south of the big mall. With the movies going late, you will find some places open until at least 11 and maybe the bar is later. Firebirds, Elephant Bar and many smaller places. Fox and Hound is more sports bar but should be open late(but the link maker finds it but won't put the correct link). Skye is really hopping later at night with a younger crowd too.

The list of chains goes on and on, in this relatively new part of town.

Please note that the "Places" feature of CH is working poorly. I'm sure bluecat did not select the Chandler location of Firebirds. I tried marking the location of the Fry Bread House, recently, and it gave me an address that they moved out of, five years ago. When I selected the other one, it still gave me the bad one.

Note, that Fry Bread House is a counter service place, with limited parking and seating, and it is quite busy during rush periods.

          Fry Bread House
          4140 N 7th Ave, Phoenix, AZ

Of the chains in this area, I like Texas Roadhouse and Arriba Mexican Grill.

In the mall, Lombardo's Gelato was in a kiosk, west of the main food court, the last time I was there.

Toward Phoenix, Mi Cocina Mi Pais is nice (hidden behind a Taco Bell). The tamales are my favorite, in the Phoenix area, and I've been to all of the places mentioned in the recent "Best Tamales" thread. Entrees can be a little challenging, but dessert is special.

4221 W Bell Rd, Phoenix, AZ

Explore the greater Phoenix area for more CH favorites. I think visitors must try Richardson's and either Los Sombreros or Barrio Cafe, or all three.

Thanks John. The place link only wants to put the LAST place in the list so....
Here is the address for Skye and Firebirds.

        2. You will be close to two of the best Thai restaurants in the Phoenix metro area.Line Thai @ 99th ave. and Bell ,Champen Thai @ 51st. ave. and Thunderbird.
There is an upscale place I've never tried right close to where you're staying called Skye.
For seafood try Taylor's Chowder House @ 35th. ave. and Thunderbird.
There is a good bbq place next to the Harley Davidson dealer at Arrowhead I think it's called Arizona Barbeque.Dillon's is also close by for good bbq. It's at the 101 frw. and Thunderbird ave.
Ah-So sushi is also very close to your location.

          1. We really like Tandoori Village at 43rd Ave. and Bell. The kormas are especially good. There is also Tandoori Times, which is an offshoot of a Scottsdale Indian restaurant, a little more upscale, higher priced and serves alcohol. That one is also on Bell, between 51st Ave and 59th Ave.

I second Tandoori Village and Tandoori Times in Glendale. Although Tandoori Village can be a bit hit and miss sometimes when it comes to service. Carraba's (right next to Tandoori Times) is not bad either if you are not opposed to stepping foot in a chain restaurant.
