Bookmark/Subscribe to Threads?

Hi There:
According to the sticky, I have to a.) either post or b.) add friends to read in order to quickly go back and reference thread in the future.
Am I misunderstanding this? If so...is there an easier way to bookmark or subscribe to threads that I find which are great references but that I don't want to contribute to myself?

You can bookmark a thread using the "Favorite Topic" function under "Show topic options". Then when you check your "my Chow", click on "Favorites" to view the threads you've bookmarked.
