Thrifty's Peach Flavored Ice Cream

I had a pleasant surprise while shopping today at my local Rite-Aid here in Huntington Beach. After not seeing it stocked for over a year, I found plenty of 1/2 gallon size containers of Thrifty's Special Occasion Peach Ice Cream. This is NOT a sherbert but a deliciously creamy ice cream with a wonderfully subtle peach flavor which is accompanied by small chunks of frozen peach fruit. Give this uniquely yummy flavor a try while its still available and I'm sure that you'll agree with me that its the best frozen-treat bargain around---only $2.99 for a 1/2 gallon!.

Thrifty ice cream is one of the few "childhood memory" foods that still taste the same. my faves were double choc malted crunch and black cherry.

every Sunday after church, my grandpa took me and my brother to Thrifty in Lincoln Heights and we would get ice cream. i always got black cherry until they introduced double choc malt crunch.

Which Rite-Aid did you find it at. My husband loves that ice-cream!

The Rite-Aid on the NW corner of Springdale/Warner in Huntington Beach. I haven't checked any other locations to see if they also carry it.

I work at thrifty ice cream plant in el monte and peach is one of our feature flavors only made in special runs about once a year for about a month or two it is one of my favs.

Also what other flavors do you do special runs?
Mocha Almond Fudge is my favorite Thrifty flavor!

Thanks for the explanation. I was surprised to see the peach flavor being sold as a "Special Occasion" ice cream this Halloween season, and not Pumpkin Pie, which is another scrumptious Thrifty's flavor that I have tasted in years past.

Did you happen to notice is they had Double Chocolate Malted Crunch? That was my favorite when I was a kid, would be a fun walk down memory lane.

Is it possible to buy the ice-cream at the el monte plant you are working at, and is it the same pricing?

This year Peach Ice cream will be hitting the Rite Aid Stores Mid July August till October. But if your looking for somthing new you have to try the Lemonhead or Red Hots. To let you know Red Hots is only available from the hand dip counter.
