In search of (fall) fish dish & sides for dinner party
I am throwing a small dinner party in a few weeks with a fall theme. I am thinking of doing either a pumpkin or squash soup to start and ending with an apple crisp. I need a fish dish to serve as the entree and am open to any types of fish. Any suggestions? And side dish suggestions to go with it?

you could do seared salmon with a red wine reduction ( adding cream, shallot, sprig of thyme) or your classic roasted whole (firm fleshed) fish with shallot, tiny tomato, coriander, fresh thyme and/ or not garlic cloves, drizzled with olive oil and scattered with thinly sliced fennel. and serve with a warm potato, onion confit and green olive salad.
don't forget about roasted chestnuts. They are great served with a pecorino and a young red wine. fayefood.com -
Hmm - what about a fish wrapped in pancetta or bacon? That would give it a heartier feel.
Here are links to two Lucques dishes:
Salmon with a bacon infused batter - http://www.chowhound.com/topics/397075#2651581
Blue fish wrapped in pancetta - http://www.chowhound.com/topics/39707... - I made this but didn't post on it - you could do some variation on the sides.
If either sound interesting to you, I'll paraphrase the recipe for you.
