Is Central Grocery really closed!!??!! I hadn't read that before. We are coming down in three weeks and it was on our list to grab some muffelatas. We have been planning our eating destinations day by day and are really loving this website - makes my mouth water just to anticipate all the good food we will be enjoying.

Hey, does anyone know if Central Grocery has a website? Do they ship their Olive Salad anywhere in the world? How do I order some? Anyone have any answers?

I have searched for a website, but was not able to find one. You should check out boscoli.com. They sell an unbelieveably delicious olive salad.

Had a muff at Central and watched Tulane-LSU on September 29th. Open and great as ever. Remember to lean forward when you bite or you may have that oil on the shirt.

Love those Muffelatas, we usually stop by when they open first thing on our way to the airport and pick up two (or several if others at home want some - they travel well). I just love eating these babies on the plane as I'm in the air leaving New Orleans - it's the best way to extend our visit as long as possible. No place like New Orleans.

I think 9, but it may be as early as 8.

I went to C.G. to get a muff on 09/20/07 around 3 or 4 in the afternoon and they where sold out. It seems like every time I go they are sold out or the line is out the door and down the street. I used to get a good muff from Royal Street Grocery but they shut down a few months back. If I was you I would go to C.G. early. Good luck.

I don't recall their ever being sold out, although perhaps I've never gone that late in the afternoon. I usually avoid the long line, too, but I have found that it moves pretty quickly.

Under "Weekend restaurant report" on this board, they said they had gotten muffs somewhere else since Central Grocery was closed - maybe they just meant "closed for the day" ??
