What should I order at Central?

I've read through almost everything that has been written on this board about Central but I can't decide what main course to order when I go for the first time tonight. I'm definitely getting the cheese puffs as an appetizer and I'll get the kitkat dessert but I can't decide on a main course. Fried Chicken? Tuna Burger? Lobster Burger? Any advice for a first timer?

  1. honestly get whatever you feel like. I've had the Pied du Cochon, which was good but very heavy and the salmon with lentils and I havnet found a weak spot on the menu

    1. I love it all, but I especially love the chicken. It's some of the best I've ever had.

      1. My opinion, but I thought the lobster burger wasn't worth it. Mine was very greasy, even though the sauce (some kind of aioli) was on the side. Want to go back to try the tuna burger (anyone know if these are similar to the tuna sliders at PS7's?).
Fries were great. Also loved the onion tart appetizer, but yes, definitely get the gougers!

The tuna sliders at PS7 is more like tuna tartar on a tiny parker house roll. Not sure what it's like at Central (since I haven't been lucky enough to eat there yet) but I always pictured it more as a round piece of ahi tuna...like a main course of tuna that you would order in a restaurant. But I might be wrong.

        2. I think the hangar steak is excellent, and it comes with their fries, which are among my favorites. I also enjoyed the charcuterie plate, with the faux gras (although a little goes a long way). Next time I'll try the regular burger.

I wanted to like the lobster burger so much, but while it was good, it didn't meet my expectations. My wife had the fried chicken, which was underwhelming. I guess we were expecting meet on the bone and it came out as a couple of boneless filets. Could be a one-time problem, though.

i think the cheese puffs are over rated. The soft shell crabs were great and so was the lobster burger. my wife loves the rotissere chicken.

Agree cheesepuffs overrated, big time, the faux grois and soft shell crab (although now that is out of season so must not be fresh) were much better.

I loved the lobster burger, but I love lobster and crabcakes so it was a good mix for me. According to Washington Post they also have one of the best burgers in town. Their hanger steak was good too, but I thought the lobster burger was better.

          2. Two words: Fried. Chicken.
