Deluxe Town Diner's smoked salmon benedict is one of my comfort food go-to's.

Is their hollandaise made from scratch - how would you rate it?

My house!!! Growing up we called them dropped eggs. I think the historic Capitol Diner in downtown Lynn serves them. It is such a neat little place. Great and diverse specials on Saturday morns like eggnog french toast and gingerbread pancakes and eggs Benedict.

I thought Beacon Hill Hotel & Bistro's poached eggs were marvelous. Really, very good.

Plough and Stars on Mass Ave in Cambridge does delicious poached eggs over pork hash with hollandaise on Saturdays and Sunday.... It's so good I've never gotten anything else off the brunch menu!

When Picante Grill had a place in Davis Square, I used to get their "huevos rancheros" all the time - eggs poached in salsa. Yum. I assume that the Central Square location still offers this weekend breakfast.

It does, but don't try to push it with the timing. They tend to shut down when they feel like it, not when the sign says brunch is over.

Add Beacon Hill Bistro to the mid-range. Nothing that will blow your mind, but it's good for that Charles St. area.

Low: Mike's City Diner, Charlie's Sandwich Shoppe, Breakfast Club, Trident Bookseller's Cafe, Deluxe Town Diner, Rachel's Kitchen.

Mid: Pops, Metropolis, Tremont 647, Union, Henrietta's Table.

High: Locke-Ober Room, served with awesome roast beef hash at lunch.

I didn't know Pops did breakfast - is it every day or just brunch on the weekend?

Sorry, I should have specified: Pops, Metropolis, Tremont 647, and Union only serve poached eggs for their weekend brunches.
