Hidden on bistro-clogged 5th Ave is the Nibble Nook. It's a candystore/bakery/island food take out shop. I had an excellent potato roti. Scotch bonnet peppers optional. Other choices: goat, shrimp, chicken, beef, veggi. Also homemade meat pies. A super friendly family operation. It's at 349 5th, across from Middle School 51.

  1. This place makes great, simple, un-Europeanized cookies. And while it's nice to have a realistic roti here in the neighborhood, I still prefer the Flatbush/Crown Heights folks. But the cookies at Nibble Nook are just amazing.

    1. what's the cross street for that address?

        Bet. 4th & 5th Streets.
And I plan to try the home-made chocolate-covered pretzels!

      2. I agree that they are very friendly people and I hope that they succeed. However I thought the roti was just average. I prefer some of the places that I've found on Utica Ave, one of which is, I think, called Ali Roti. I believe that it is two blocks or so south of Eastern Parkway, on the east side of Utica Ave.

It may not be the best in Brooklyn but it's the best in the nabe.
