A bit less gourmet than Salt, but another tasty destination I just tried for the first time. They have different daily lunch specials of quite good diner type food. I went a bunch of times last week and this one. I was very happy with the baked lamb, pot roast, baked ziti, lake trout, creamy mac and cheese, real mashed potatoes, collard greens, and home-made gravy. I've yet to try the baked chicken, meatloaf, or crabcakes. Most platters with 2 sides are $7.25 and the portions are ridiculously large.

  1. Sounds great! Not knowing where "The Block" is, I did a quick search. This really is right across the street from "The Block" of strip clubs and other, er, "interesting" establishments on Baltimore St. Maybe some weekend during the daytime I'll venture over. Not so much for dinner by myself anytime soon.

    1. Oh yeah! A fried chicken sandwich from Crazy John's on the Block! Thanks for the reminder, ko1. I need to head over there again.

      1. Crabcake isn't bad for the price.
I used to their chicken pot pie all the time when I worked closer. With Caeser Salad and rice, it was a bargain.
