I want to make a crumble today. Anyone been to Farm Boy and can tell me what looks good there so I can sorta plan before I go?

Just got back. They had some nice strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, lovely looking peaches and nectarines. The plums and fresh quinces also looked good.

Today's froyo flavors are regular, blueberry and mango.

I picked up strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. the crumble bakes as I type! It will go well with the banana rum macadamia chocolate chunk ice cream I made this morning. well, i guess it will. With a nut allergy, I can't eat either.

    All for my wonderful husband!

Peaches are already gone in flavor, as most all are now mealy.
Berries have peaked and you need to get them before they are all gone.
Pears are already coming in, including comice from Chile, but bartletts and boscs are California grown.

Perhaps I've just been lucky, but I'm still buying wonderful, juicy, sweet yellow peaches. On Sunday, I bought great peaches at a farmers market in San Diego. They were even better than the peaches I bought at last wednesday's Santa Monica farmers market. The supplies were plentiful and prices were low, so I got the sense that there was still more to come.

I too found both juicy, sweet yellow peaches & white nectarines @ the Studio City Farmers Market last Sunday. Delicious late summer fruit (even though it's already Fall...)

I didn't think Farm Boy's summer fruit--plums, peaches and nectarines were very good. Gelson's had a better selection and better flavor. I like Farm Boy for some things, but not all.

I have found the consistently best peaches, nectarines, pluots, etc. at the Encino Farmers Market. There's one stand towards the back in the shady part that always has great stuff.

Except he wasn't there last week at all - and I went just for that. I assume it was a fluke. I usually head there rather than the much closer Studio City market.

I know the stand you're talking about, and he always has orgasmically good peaches!

Peaches are still insanely good. My daughter scarfs down at least two a day. I generally hit the Studio City Farmers' Market for mine, but I am sure Farm Boy has a good selection.
