Oktoberfest Foods in Westchester

GITNYC Sep 24, 2007 01:40 PM

I am planning an Oktoberfest party and need sources of good sausages and other traditional food for about 30 people. Any suggestions of good places in Westchester? (we're in the Pelham/New Rochelle area, but would travel for good food or catering)

I asked about German food/groceries in Westchester a long time ago and don't recall getting much in the way of responses. I think someone mentioned somewhere north - Tarrytown? Irvington? Also maybe Grand Central Station but nothing here on the sound shore. Do a search though and check.

laylag, GITNYC, there is a German grocery, sausage place in Fishkill on Route 52. Don't know the name, but their stuff is very good.

Not German, but the wurst is as good as the place in Fishkill, imo, is to be found at the Pork Store in Portchester.

GITNYC, grill the sausages if you can, they're outstanding.

Try Karl Ehmer's in Yorktown Heights. They have a wide variety of german wursts and sausages. you can look their exact location up at KarlEhmer.com

You could try Karl Ehmer on line. If you want to travel there is a good German butcher in Cairo, Alpine Pork Store.. Also the Smoke house of the Catskills in Saugerties. I'm in the Catskills every weekend. If you need, I'll transport the food for you. LOL I live in same area.

There is a Karl Ehmer still operating in Yorktown Heights, not too far from Turco's
