Hello everyone.

I will be driving from Toronto to Davenport Florida with my family and I was hoping for some help on restaurants on the way and in Davenport. We have never driven or stayed her.

Any help would be great.

Richard.

For restaurants en route to Florida, please post on the the regional boards for the regions you'll be driving through, so that we can keep the focus on this board on Florida recommendations.

    Thanks!

As for Davenport (or Haines City), it's a wide spot in the road that is really a sort of Tourist World suburb with vacation homes and hotels catering to Disney World tourists on the far (towards Tampa) side of Orlando.

The Omni at ChampionsGate is probably the best thing there -- search the board for specifics as some have not had a great experience while others have -- their signature restauant is called Zen.

Good news is you are a 10 minute drive from the Lake Buena Vista/Kissimmee area which does offer some promise. Again, search the board for those key words.

I live in Davenport, if you want good food at good prices you can't beat Manny's Chop house it has excellent steaks all cuts and is always served with bread and salad. I have also tryed stuffed flounder there and it was very good. it has a lively local attmosphere, and freindly staff. Also we have a bistro in the berry town center plaza called kokopellie (not sure i have spelt it right) great if you want a more romantic less hectic meal. The same plaza has a new applebees....hope this helps
