Dim Sum at Casa Imperial
I had some great dim sum at Casa Imperial today, some of the stand out items are :
- seafood dumpling in clear broth
Very strong tasty soup base, lots of seafood (scallop and shrimp) in there with sharkfin (not a lots but at least you see them). Best one in GTA and better than LWH.
- Cuttlefish tentacle with spice
Just looking at the pic, you know it is good. The tentacle is well prepared, not hard, not soft, chewy and just right.
- Ha Gow
Big, firm with a nice smell and taste, can't really tell what that is, is it jin wah ham broth ?!
- Crispy bean curd with meat and seafood row
With sweet soy sauce, peanut sauce and hoisin sauce, mix them up ! delicious !
Overall, it is still one of the best dim sum place in Markham/Richmond hill, price is about 30% to 40% less than Lai Wah Heen. But of course, there is nothing with truffle and foie gras in Casa.
I've been recommending Casa Imperial for a while now as a good dim sum restarant. The owner also owns another good restarant in the Richmond Hill area. Forgot what it's called but it's lcoated in the same plaze where Lucullus Bakery is on the north side of Hwy 7 east of Bayview.
I wouldn't compare either to Lai Wah Heen though. I see LWH as very good westernized Chinese food. I don't think truffles and foie gras are ingredients in traditional Chinese cuisine.
It is called Full House, both Casa and Full House have been recommended on this board for many times. It just recently there is some report saying Full House is not as good as before .... There is a traditional dim sum section on LWH 's dim sum menu which has many traditional dim sum you can order, this also has been mentioned before ......
Hello skylineR33!! Sounds and looks great! To get a table, did you go very early or very late? Do they accept reservations for Dim Sum lunch? I'll give it a try next weekend, may be?!
Whilst you were having Dim Sum at Casa Imperial today, I was down the road having lunch at Shark fin City, second floor of Pacific Mall. I had their Braised noodle with Abalone and sea cucumber. Six little morsels of abalone that, even though are small in size but still packed the taste of their bigger brethens and were equally chewy. The sea cucumber was melt in the mouth. They also poured quite a bit of the abalone gravy onto the noodles, so its pretty flavourful as well. In addition, I also ordered their B-B-Q duck, which in my opinion is the BEST of its kind in the GTA. Skin very crisp and the taste very similar to the best of Hong Kong! They are so confident with their product that they don't even bother giving you some of the 'au jus' unless you ask.

Agree completely Shark Fin City is a hidden gem with the best BBQ pork and duck in GTA !! I usually order the $20 combo (combo b or d ?). I love it.
We made a reservation for dim sum at Casa Imperial for 1 pm. And end up waiting for like 10 mins after we arrived. That place is pretty packed in weekend.

You can book reservations at Casa Imperial. However, like most other Chinese restaurants, this isn't the same thing as reserving a table at western restaurants. They don't actually reserve a table for you, rather, they do nothing and only when you come, they put you near the top of the line for one of the next few open tables.
