We haven't been to the teensy Table d'Hote, on 92nd, b/t 5th & Madison, in ages. But my daughter and the b.f. were there recently and said it was still excellent.

You could try Zebu Grill - good Brazilian food a bit east on 92nd Street - I like the empanadas, and the main course salmon dish, my husband usually gets the fejoada (sp?). Very sweet service - family run etc. On the same block, across the street, is Kurio - interesting eclectic food and wonderful cocktails, also run by a family - mother in the kitchen, China at the front of the house. They do beautiful things with fried foods - tempura green beans, crunchy spicy tuna roll, spicy salmon fritters. I've always enjoyed the fish main courses I've had there, and the bread is wonderful.
