Gift for Vegan Friend Moving to SF

A friend of mine is moving from the east coast to San Francisco. I have never been, and I am looking for a small gift in the $10-$20 range. She is a vegan and likes theater. Any ideas? Are memberships to the San Francisco Vegetarian Society or VegDining cards worth it? Thanks!

Thanks for the great ideas. I think the bay area veg book is perfect, though I wish I could buy them all!

A gift certificate for XOX chocolates? They make vegan truffles and even though I prefer the regular truffles, I like the vegan version very much too.

How about the local foods wheel?

Not cheap or exclusively vegetarian but beautiful and useful.

You can buy them at Mission Pie, Bi-Rite, and a lot of other spots.

"Greens" cookbook from the restaurant might get them started, although I'm not sure that the book is vegan. It's very well- regarded vegetarian though.

Definitely not Vegan. Very dairy heavy veg (but yummy). Here is a cheap book option, though I can't speak to its quality:

Another option might be to go in with a few people and sign your friend up for a month with a good CSA with a pick up point in her new neighborhood. At your price point, each of you could cover the cost of one week's produce. This old article has links to many of the options: http://www.kqed.org/weblog/food/2005/...

A search on Chowhound will lead to lots of reviews of the various CSAs.
