Petrillos in an hour?

Live in Pasadena and getting together w/friends tonight for a very cas dinner. I had planned on Fredos as I've been reading about them forever on this site, but just checked and see they close at 8 p.m.

Switching horses...maybe pizza? Am thinking Petrillos, but wondered if the atmosphere is nice for a fun dinner. Sounds like the pizza is fantastic. Leaving soon and thanks!

Definitely good for a casual dinner with friends.

Thanks so much for the encouraging advice. Four of us had a large Petrillo's special pizza - so plenty for b'fast. I prefer thin crust but this was the group vote and it was delicious - service charming too. Lots of teasing from my friends about eating Italian in the heart of Chinesefoodville. Thanks, as always, to all you Chowhounds for the great counsel.

Glad you enjoyed Petrillo's, it is an SGV classic. Interestingly enough, eastern San Gabriel and Temple City both enjoyed a decent-sized Italian community years ago

Never been to Petrillos, but I've heard good things about the pizza. Then again, you can always go to Lucky Baldwins... sorry, I'm biased 'cause I'm jonesing for a Guinness right now.
