I am trying to decide where place this restaurant in my list of places to eat.

I would greatly appreciate any thoughts.

Anyone ever tried their tasting menu?

Went for lunch this past summer and thought it was a very good deal. I liked the food and the service was very good. The restaurant is bright and high ceilings are nice.

I've been wondering about Gotham too - I never went in all the years I lived in NYC because I assumed that it was a tourist trap with tall food, but then I picked up a used copy of Alfred Portale's and was stunned at how delicious everything looked. For some reason, all I ever heard about was the architectural stuff, and not how keenly attuned the menu is to seasonal produce. It's now one of my go-to cookbooks when I come back from the farmer's market with armfuls of stuff I'm not sure what to do with, and I'm thinking about eating there next time I'm in NYC.

We have been going to Gotham for years, and we love it. The food is wonderful, staff is very pleasant and accommodating (my daughter is a vegetarian, and they put together something wonderful for her, can't exactly remember what it was, but it wasn't just a plate of grilled vegetables) and I, personally, don't think it is too expensive for the food, care, and service.
          Go and enjoy it.

            I was there just recently.
            A big thumbs up!
It was a delicious meal in upscale surroundings and service to match.
            Go for it.

I would rank Gotham among the highest rank of NYC dining experiences. Enjoy!
