hello, you did not mention terra or la toque in your "been there" list. they both have numerous favorable posts. we had a very good meal at terra and would go back, have yet to get to la toque. cheers

have you tried market? it's not fancy, homey, comfort food. gets mixed reviews on this board, but their meatloaf is fantastic. and get the butterscotch pudding if they have it.

I'll second or third the La Toque, Martini House and Cindy's recommendations, in that order, but I'm one of those Market dissenters. I really don't get what people like about it. The room is dramatic with the stone wall, but the food is boring in my opinion. Not bad by any means, but there are so many places I'd rather eat.

hello, can relate to your p.o.v., that's why we haven't tried la toque yet; terra isn't quite in that stratosphere, I don't think. Nearly everything in St. H. seems pricey to us, so we resigned ourselves to luxury (sigh). For non-luxury we go to Taylor's Refresher (decent quality to price ratio) or Calistoga. Mostly, we end up going to Healdsburg or Sonoma. cheers

Press is a nice place to check out. Good service, excellent steaks and a hefty Napa-only wine list.
