Jubilation! NY Pizza in Greer, SC

I am doing a happy dance. Real NYC pizza right here in Greer, SC. This is a miracle.

Located on Highway 290 and St Marks Road, DellaVentura's Pizza is the real deal. Thin crispy homemade crust, a perfectly seasoned sauce and the exact right amount of quality cheese makes pizza perfection.

We didn't have much (any) hope for this newly ownership changes pizza place. The previous two owners made use of a conveyor belt type cooking system. Needless to say, the product was subpar. We weren't even going to try the new incarnation.

Then I saw an article in the local paper which outlined Joe DellaVentura's pizza making history. Hmmmm - he started out in Staten Island. A plus. Then moved to South Florida (might as well be south NY) before recently relocating here to Greer. Then I saw the kicker. A photo of him sliding a pie into a real pizza oven. Unreasonable hope sprang forth.

Hubby picked up a large pie and an order of garlic knots tonight and we have been doing the happy dance since. (feeling like an Iron Chef judge here *the flavors are dancing on my tongue*) LOL

In any case, if you're looking for real NY pizza, look no further. I'm feeling hungry again.....

Have you ever driven up to Flat Rock Village Bakery for their pizza? Not NY style, but fab nonetheless. About 25 minutes from N. Greenville.
