Sad to hear that. I don't see anything here about the death of Pol Martin, who was an important influence on another generation of fine dining in Québec, and indeed throughout Canada: http://www.canada.com/montrealgazette...

Of course Martin did not die at a young age, but it is sad anyway.

Thanks lagatta for mentioning the death of Pol Martin. He was indeed an important influence and so well loved by a generation of Québec food lovers. For many people, he made cooking approachable through his Montréal cooking school. Cookbooks and TV shows followed to reach a wider audience long before there was the inkling of a TV Food Network. I had the privilege to watch him work and connect with people on a personal level. He was always keen to help others learn the 'Art of Cooking" and share his love for good food. - Pol Martin's daughter

I was very sad to hear for Pol Martin. his recipe for Boeuf Bourguignon is simply the best and my dad has passed it along to me recently.

Just got it confirmed by a reliable source. Le 357c restaurant exec chef John Ledwell has died. He actually died today.

Thanks. The person who gave the info, had it wrong.

He was with chef Claude Pelletier on the fishing ship(that's what I heard)?

Are you referring to John Ledwell of 357c?

Haven't seen any public announcements to that effect. No mention on the 357c website. No mention on Google.

                That would be John Ledwell.
