Something Near W.29th?

  • 9

Teen daughter and I will becoming in from the 'burbs Sat. nite to attend a performance near 29th and 7th Ave. (I don't even know how to characterize this area--north of Chelsea, south of midtown?) Can anyone recommend a place for an informal dinner (we'll be dressed casually) within 5 or 6 blocks in any direction? Open to all ethnicities and styles. Many thanks.

  1. koreatown would be a good bet, because it's a saturday night and you'll need reservations in most places but not in koreatown. check out SHILLA or WON JO for korean barbeque. both are on W32nd between broadway and 5th.

    1. Bens Deli on 38th and 7th, too far?

      1. Le Zie isn't far--at 21st and 7th.

Forgot about Hill Country--I second that suggestion.

          2. I love Le Zie. Other options are Markt, on 6th at 21st, for great Belgian, Black Pearl, on 26th a little east of 6th, for oysters, lobster rolls and other seafood, and brgr, on 7th betw 26th and 27th, for a decent fast food burger.

            1. Wow, many more than I would have expected--thanks!

              1. Red Cat is really cute and crowdpleaser... 23rd near 10th though:

I think Red Cat is too big to be described as cute. It has a sort of country feel about it, though in a sophisticated way, which is quite pleasing. As for the food, while it's fine, I don't think it's anything special. In short, I wouldn't go out of my way to go there again.
