Desperate for Delivery -- Park Slope

I've lived here in Park Slope for four months, and as far as I can tell, all the delivery options are awful. Lousy tasteless Indian, revolting Mexican, joke Chinese, inedible pizza. Plenty of nice upscale restaurants, total dearth of good cheap stuff. Or am I missing something?

I used to live in Elmhurst, Queens, which may just be the best neighborhood in New York for take-out/delivery. So Park Slope seems especially miserable to me.

Can anyone guide me in the right direction? Or shall I abandon hope?

yes, abandon hope with mexican. anthony's pizza is the best. lenny's just started delivery as well. plenty of thai, from song to watana to long tan. cocotte now delivers it's cognac burger with morbier cheese(sounds weird, i know, but it works). two boots, la villa, it's all ok.....being from los angeles myself, really, don't bother with mexican.

Second Anthony's. Their whole wheat pizzas are (also) really good.

Try the "Grandma's Pizza" at La Villa (261 5th Ave, between Garfield and Carroll). It's a little non-traditional, with lots of mozzarella, fresh basil and fresh garlic, but I think it's out of this world, and so do many others.

I've lived in Park Slope for two years and have been very happy with the delivery.

Best Pizza - Amorina in Prospect Heights, or Joe's Pizza
Best Chinese - tough one here , Mr.Wonton I guess, but it's limited
Best Thai - Song, Mango....so many to choose from
Best Mexican - Burrito Bar, Los Pollitos, La Taqueria
        Best Chicken - Coco Roco

Misc: ChipShop, Aunt Suzie's, Antonio's, Wing Wagon

I could go on, you just need to look a little harder. I used to live on 14th and 5th and now I live off of Flatbush and it's all good.

If Taqueria is considered among the best, then I'm really in trouble. I'd put it somewhere below the Burritoville chain.

Thanks for the recommendations though. . . I haven't tried all of them.

I have no idea what your criteria is...but I'm a native Californian, Mexican food connoisseur, and it's not like I'm trying to say Tacqueria is amazing or anything, but it's certainly miles better than Burritoville any day of the week. Maybe try it again?

Ditto. No comparison. Pollitos is sort of up and down and Lobo isn't the greatest food in the world, but both can be passable.

People are mentioning Song, but I don't think they deliver.

The post below mine mentions Aunt Suzie's - but don't eat there unless you are in college, have no money, are very drunk, and don't know any better. I'm not that crazy about Chip Shop's fish and chips.

Now that I think about it - none of the places that I would get delivery from, Sun Luck, Pizza place on 5th Avenue and Union, Pollitos, Lobo, various Sushi places - none of them were really much to write home about.

We did not like Los Pollitos. After a positive write-up in the NY Times (a while ago) I was eager to try their rotisserie chicken that was supposed to be so good. Oh, boy, was I set up for disappointment. And my husband, who had something else (sorry, I do not remember what it was anymore) thought it was "gross".

You don't mention where you live or what you've tried, but of course there is good delivery in Park Slope. Pizza from Roma or Anthony's. The taqueria on 7th mentioned does pretty good Cali-style burritos, plus a great rotisserie chicken, Song has good Thai. We have one of the best sushi restaurants in Brooklyn at Taro. Does City Sub deliver? Great sandwiches. Also, Tempo Presto.

Have you seen http://www.chow.com/topics/402581 ? Delivery is a pretty individual thing, but the recommendations there cover a wide range of tastes.

Abandon hope. The California taqueria on 7th Ave between Lincoln and Berkeley isn't bad though. You might want to try Mr. Falafel on 7th Ave between 3rd and 4th streets.
