Anything New Coming into Orlando/Central Florida

t

Read that Danny Devito along with restauranteur David Manero of South Beach restaurant fame (Devito's South Beach) were scouting for additional locations in Orlando, LA, and Vegas. This got me thinking if any other new restaurants have their sights set on Orlando or metro area? Or are there any confirmed restaurants headed our way. I know Truluks (sp?) is headed to "The Square" on I Drive along with a new mexican dig on Sand Lake. Any others?

A Red Star Tavern will be opening in Orlando Fashion Square (Mall) and I've seen want ads for a Kissimmee branch of BJ's Brewhouse. If BJ's has two in the area, maybe they'll start brewing here instead of trucking it in from elsewhere.

Your exactly right John. I heard they truck all their brews in from Texas except their Root Beer which is brewed here.

I've already heard good things about The Ravenous Pig in Winter Park (where the old Za Bella/Popollo used to be). The menu is on their website and looks like something new for Orlando. I'll report back whenever I make it there!

Went to the Ravenous Pig for dinner on Tue planning to go back tonight. The food is EXCELLENT, the service needs a little polish. Definitely recommend ...... it is going to be huge.

If Ceviche's new Orlando location is even half as stellar as those in Tampa and St. Pete, there is cause for excitement.

I heard Fogo de Chao (another Brazilian churrascaria) will be coming to the new complex replacing the Mercado.

Ikea will be open on Nov 14 :) it's food related because they have delicious Swedish meatballs and lingoberry drinks. Their 99cent breakfast plate isn't too bad either.

I've never been to an IKEA before, but all my out-of-state friends tell me it's an amazing experience in itself (and of course good food). I keep hearing rumors about lines that will start a day or two before the store opens!

Me too! Apparently they give away free stuff. As in flat screen free stuff!

If you're local, go there during the weekday to avoid the madness that is grand opening month(s). I would imagine everyone within 5 hour driving distance will be there. Prepare to spend couple hours there...parking, huge show rooms, the checkout lines (self bagging!).

Based on other location: Their upstairs main food court is cafeteria style (grab a tray and pick the food you want), variety of Swedish foods, free refills on drinks. Then there's a snack/to go counter service after the check out area where you can get coffee, hot dog, ice cream, cinnamon buns, etc. The same area also has a small food market with native snacks, food, and drinks. Price are all reasonable too. It's pretty fun to just go there to stroll around the show rooms and grab some bites to eat on the cheap.

They haven't mentioned any specific prize give away during the line up (Nov 12), but in the past, they gave away gift cards(in $1000s), furniture set to fill a room, their signature chair.

It has been a couple of months so I thought I would revive this topic to see if anything new is planned for Orlando or the Central Florida market.

Actually, ZED 451, Red Robin, Bojangles and T-Rex are all coming. Dave & Buster's is looking for sites in both Tampa and Orlando..

Any news on the Giordano's Pizza rumored to open in Altamonte Springs?

They turned the sign that was up backwards, so it's not a good sign...

Aw crap. We've been looking forward to trying it for a while now. Where exactly is it located?

It was going into Uptown Altamonte in the building with the Cold Stone and Volcanos in it. Drive by at night when the signs are lit up and you can somewhat see the backlit Giordanos sign.

That whole area is pretty sad with how little is open there...
