What can you say about a place that keeps cranking out one memorable meal after another? We're going back Friday night!

Passed through LV on our way back from a wedding in Big Bear, CA. No rezzies on a Sunday night, but they were able to get a table for us.

The Big Daddy has been replaced by Grant's IPA, which I found to be an upgrade. Very nice and hoppy, and a name I was unfamiliar with. Chimay is the other draft, and of course their selection of beers and pairing choices remain impeccable.

First amuse was a cube of the always yummy asparagus bread pudding. Second was the always looked forward to Anson Mill grits with wild mushroom ragout, this time in a smoked tomato butter sauce that had us absolutely swooning. I would be glad to bathe in the stuff.

My 3-course prix fixe choices were the evening's soup special, a roasted heirloom tomato and parmesan that was superb, speck-wrapped sea scallops with mushrooms, favas and pea shoots in a porcini broth that was superb and the dessert special, a white chocolate cheesecake with a wine/blackberry reduction that was superb. Do you sense a trend here?

The lovely Denise's appy special, a chanterelle risotto with foie was just stupid good. She also enjoyed a new salmon prep with citrus and went that totally worked and the ever-fabulous coconut bread pudding/hot fudge dessert.

As it was 1/2-price wine night, we availed ourselves of the Pierre Peters bubbly for $60. The missus noticed the "des Mesnils" designation on the wine list, and turns out is from across the road from Salon, purveyors of the finest champagne in the known universe or any other. Nowhere close to Brand S, but very nice for the tariff.

We're on our way back to Vegas to see Eric Johnson (my fave guitarist) and another killer dinner at Rosemary's. Stay tuned for a review, of the meal anyway...
