As someone who goes to Ferry Plaza every week, it takes a traffic disaster, not just heavy rain to disturb the amount of vendors by that much. New Years Eve was a gross anomaly.

it seems like some vendors do set up even if it rains. not sure about the prather ranch burger stand. i think so, but i would call the prather vendor in the market to confirm. (415) 391-0420

how are their buffalo burgers? i tried one of their regular burgers a few months back and i wasn't impressed at all. this is strange, because i've brought their ground beef home and made my own burgers with it and they turned out fantastic.

I haven't yet had the buffalo burger, but I did taste a sample of a particularly succulent buffalo hot dog. A former-vegetarian (and Miette baker) friend raved to me about the hamburgers.

I had the same experience Saturday with my buffalo burger. It was very dry. I think the secret is to order it rare or bloody so you get it medium rare, which is what I asked for. I would not order again, although I had unreasonable expectations of the buffalo. I have had excellent buffalo hotdog and a good green chili stew there though.

Buffalo meat is very low in fat, and needs to be cooked carefully. I've made great buffalo burgers at home, but if you cook them a second past medium rare they toughen up.

Try the buffalo tacos with Rancho Gordo relish. I think it's a better choice and makes more sense with the buffalo.
