Coming to DC for business
Chowhound from LA staying four nights for a conference....staying at the Four Points Sheraton, I believe near the convention center over on K street. Company's dime, but we've got a budget per person...I think it's around $25 a meal not including drinks.

Another vote to blow your budget and eat at Corduroy. It is my understanding that they have not closed to move or moved yet.

Stay right in your hotel and eat at Corduroy. If you blow the company budget, as I always do, supplement it a little. If you must stay under $25, maybe Jaleo, Zaytinya, Matchbox, or (this may be a stretch on the $) Brasserie Beck or Central would be worth a look.

Agree with all of these, but didn't I hear that Corduroy recently closed? Or was moving? Or something like that....
Matchbox is way too loud for me. If you go with anyone else, forget about carrying on a conversation. I would add the Spy Museum to your list -- Zola's is the restaurant.
You're close to the Verizon Center restaurant zone, but you're also not a long walk from another good zone -- head west about 4-6 blocks and you'll have Olives, Bombay Club, DC Coast, Georgia Brown's.....

re: JRinDC
Tom Power has NOT left Corduroy. The quality is as high as ever - my office is a block away, and I go regularly.
There are plans for him to open his own place, but they are months and months away from doing anything.
This continues to be one of the best restaurants in the city. His soups are a work of art. Chowhounds will do very well here, but because of his association with the hotel, non-foodies can always find excellent things on the menu as well.
If you can get the menu within your budget, this is the place for you to be.
Beck's, a block away, is also a fine choice, but it's pretty loud in there.

re: JRinDC
Actually Brasserie Beck has very good prices for DC and huge portions for their entrees. I hadn't heard anything about Corduroy, and the website doesn't say anything. All the above are good suggestions.
You are also close to Acadiana which is cajun.
Lots of good stuff to choose from. And most all these places have websites so you can judge your budget well.

I would definitely say to hit up Brasserie Beck. Totally doable for $25 (minus drinks). They have great food and beer. www.beckdc.com
